Mayan – 2012 – The World Will End?

Been reading about this topic for the last few days, thought i should write about it.  How many of you think that human kind can predict when will the world end? Keep on reading, it seem very interesting how Mayan Calendar ends on 21 December 2012.

The Maya civization was known for the only known fully developed written language of the pre-columbian. So why do people say the world will end on 21 December 2012?

So what does the calendar say? You see the calendar was design around 250 – 900 AD. They use many type of calendars and view time as a meshing of spiritual cycles. The problem starts when the base year for the Mayan Long Count starts at “0.0.0.0.0”. Each zero goes from 0 – 19 and each represent a tally of Mayan days.  Example as the first day of the calendar starts as 0.0.0.0.1 and the 10th days would show as 0.0.0.0.10 and when the 19th days is reached it goes up 1 level and it will change from 0.0.0.0.19 to 0.0.0.1.0. The level moves on which mean 0.0.1.0.0 will be about 1 year, 0.1.0.0.0 will be about 20 years and 1.0.0.0.0 will be about 400 years.

Now coming the end of the world, the Mayan calendar starts from 0.0.0.0.0 and it will end when it reach 13.0.0.0.0 which is 5126 years and the Mayan calendar started on August 11th 3114 BC, which mean the Mayan calendar starts on August 11th 3114 BC (0.0.0.0.0) and will end on 13.0.0.0.0 which is 21st December 2012. This can be seen in 2 ways, when the calendar ends at 13.0.0.0.0 it can just reset its self and start all over again from 0.0.0.0.0 but us being human something innocent like can be think as the most extreme possibilities for the end of human kind.

In short this is what the Mayan calendar means, do we have any such calculation or calendar in Hindu?

    2012 is indeed a very mysterious and interesting topic… once I’ve came across and article on the similarities between Mayan calendar and Hindu’s lunar calendar…. I can’t explain the calculation method as i don’t really understand it myself,if im not mistaken, it has been said that the Hindu lunar calendar predicted the coming of Golden Age in 2012 which will last for about 10,000 years….There is only a difference of 12 years between the Hindu’s lunar calendar and Mayan’s calendar….and the amusing part is these ancient cultures did have any contact….even the ancient I Ching calendar, from China has also depicted the end of current age in 2012…..what could possibly take place..no one can tell for sure….many have predicted a series of disastrous events based on their research of what happened back in ancient ages referring to the flood and sea rise level that washed almost everything away….

  2. I’ve also read that sunspots will be appearing all over the surface of the sun, along with numerous solar flares that could indeed knock out our satalites and cause the planet to lose power.

If you have watched The Knowing….it showed a glimpse of what could happen to the earth because of solar flares…actually in scientific terms, there will be a lot of changes in the earth’s magnetic activities…yeah and the sunspot activities is one of it…..also some facts say that humankind would not be wiped out,but will raised to higher consciousness…no more war i guess…..and all this could well change our future DNA…..
